Summer Vacation

In the beginning of August, some of us Judds (Dennis and family and Patty and family) went on a RV trip to Mt.Lassen, Burney Falls, Mt.Shasta and Crater Lake. It was tons of fun even with the Motorhome catastrophes. We did the usual camping type activities such as roasting marshmallows and making smores, fishing, hiking, swimming in the lake, sight seeing, etc. None of the guys had much luck fishing though. Only Dan caught any fish. Of course they had fun. They even rented kayaks while the ladies went to town to shop and of course My husband Will was the one to get tipped over and get soaking wet. He only brought one pair of shoes so the rest of the day he walked around the campsite barefoot. It took 3 days for his hiking boots to dry. Finally at the end of the day he borrowed sandals from Dennis. When we went to burney falls, Will, Dennis and my brother Jeff dared each other to swim in the 42 degree water. They did it but they were so cold. Will went in his jeans and my brother in shorts, my dad was the only one prepared with swim trunks. It is funny the faces they make when they first jump in the water. Classic expression of shock from the cold. We also went to Mt. Lassen and some of us hiked to the sulfur hot springs. Boy, did it smell bad there! The last part of the trip was to Crater lake in Oregon. It was so blue and beautiful. We just saw it from the road because it is a very steep, strenuous hike down to the water and there are no beaches. Rachel didn't do too well on the drive but she loved all the extra attention from her relatives. We were excited to see Oregon, it is as beautiful as northern CA but cheaper to live. Seeing it just pushed along the idea that we want to move there when Will is done with school. Did you know that they pump your gas for you in Oregon. They dont let you do it yourself. no extra charge. I liked that idea. I think the only part of the trip that I didn't like was driving through Nevada. We have done that drive so many times, I don't care if I never see the Nevada desert again. (no offense Julie and Debbie, we do like Reno, its somewhat green.) So now I want everyone else who went on the trip to post their experience and their pictures!
